about the energy star showcase room

Tulane EnergySTAR Dorm Room - 2001-2002The ENERGY STAR Showcase Dorm Room was created by Tulane students and staff to demonstrate to students how our purchasing decisions can greatly affect the overall energy use on campus, which in turn affects our environment, and also tuition and housing costs.

With donations from manufacturers and retailers, Tulane periodically furnishes the dorm room of an incoming student with all new, Energy Star labeled, energy efficient appliances.  We use the list of each year’s appliances and their energy use to estimate the possible savings of student energy efficient purchasing, and to educate the campus community about the Energy Star label.

Tulane EnergySTAR Dorm Room - 2002-2003This is a project of the Tulane University Office of Environmental Affairs. Our main partner is ENERGY STAR, a project of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy.

Special thanks to CDW-G and Tulane Technology Services for making this year’s ENERGY STAR Showcase Dorm Room possible.
