Dining

Dining Services is working closely with students and staff to make Tulane a regional pilot for more sustainable dining practices. An active team is working to reduce waste and to offer more local and sustainably grown foods.

Dining Services has collaborated with the Tulane Green Club to offer more vegetarian and vegan options, as well as more local Louisiana produce and seafood in Bruff Commons. At Le Gourmet,  all products are either organic, local, natural or sustainable/biodegradable.

Removing trays in Bruff Commons has reduced food waste and dishwasher loads, saving energy and water every day. Dining Services promotes a signature reusable cup, designed by a Tulane student, and gives a substantial discount on fountain drinks each time you refill it. Bottle and can recycling is now available in the LBC Food Court, and meals are served on china plates at the LBC’s Pasta station and Home Plate. Sodexho, our dining provider, and Dining Services are active supporters of Tulane Recycling, working together to develop new approaches to reducing waste and expanding recycling efforts at Tulane.

What you can do

  1. In Bruff, take only as much as you can eat
  2. In the LBC order food “for here” to reduce disposable packaging
  3. Buy beverages in a reusable cup, and fill up your water bottle at the LBC filter stations
